CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS
Native American Compartment Sled
This sled was commissioned for me to design as a gift for someone with a collection of sled ornaments. I wanted to create a sled that was unique and in keeping with my style, which is often Native American inspired. I built the sled from two flat wooden ornaments, which I altered. and used the other parts from four additional pieces of wood to create the seat and bottom section, which opens up into a small compartment for a ring or message.
The sled is sand painted with red sand and decorated with a hand painted design matching the patterns on the seat cushions. The runners have a silver glittery shimmer. The sled has a hand painted bead and a leather cord fashioned to look like the rope and handle used to pull the sled. The gold hanger is accented with fringes that continue the Native American theme.

Personalize your ornament by adding a short phrase, such as "Our First Christmas Together 2020" or "Remember Stone Harbor/Summer of 2019." Perhaps something that is just between the two of you...."You are the ornaments on my heart." A couple's names can be put in the sand, provided the names are not too long. A date is included with personalization as shown below.

HANDMADE RECYCLED PAPER CREATIONS
Handmade Cornhusk Paper Box
with Turtle on Leather and Tree Bark
This box is made with archival materials. It is covered with my own cornhusk paper. The bottom is made of kozo paper with cornhusk pulp added; the top is made with 100% cornhusk pulp, which I made myself from the husks of corn. The bark is from a Sycamore tree, and is decorated with leather and a silver turtle icon. The latch is black leather cord with a decorated bead.
Native American Inspired
Handmade Recycled Paper Box with Feathers
This box is completely handmade from archival materials and then covered with my own handmade, recycled paper. The pulp was dyed with natural tea. Maroon fabric fibers were added to the pulp, and finally it was formed into the sheets I used to make this box. Archival glue was used to attach the feathers to the box and it was varnished with water-based matte varnish. Enhancements of natural suede leather surround the latch, which was made with black leather cord and a hand-painted bead (not my own).
